Rachel is a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology and a graduate student affiliate of the Center for Research on Education Opportunity. Rachel joined the department at Notre Dame with an MSc in Sociology from the London School of Economics and a BA with majors in Music and in Society and Environment and a minor in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. She has also worked for many years as a music educator and in performing arts management. Her research interests include racial, gender and socioeconomic inequality in education; extracurricular activities; opportunity hoarding and the intergenerational transmission of advantage; arts and culture.
