Guillermo Montt is a Chilean national and earned a B.A. in sociology and an M.A. in statistics before coming to Notre Dame and CREO. He pursued his interests in education and stratification in his personal research and in collaboration with professor William Carbonaro as a research assistant. His master's thesis, on cross-national differences in achievement inequality, was published in Sociology of Education and he defended his dissertation on school socioeconomic composition effects on student outcomes in 2012. Since 2011 he works as an analyst in the team that analyses and develops PISA, an international study of student achievement.
